About the Opportunity 

Orano Canada is currently looking for an Operational Superintendent to join our team in McClean Lake, SK, on a fly-in, fly-out rotational basis with on-site camp facilities. Please note that flights to McClean are only coordinated from Saskatoon, Prince Albert, and La Ronge, as well as several communities in Northern Saskatchewan. Candidates will be working 11-hour days, with a flexible on/off rotation, dependent on needs. 

The McClean Lake Operational Superintendent plays an important role in the safe and efficient production of uranium concentrate, by leading the uranium ore processing facility, including the on-site operation of the tailings management and water treatment processes. Reporting to the McClean Mill Manager, the Operational Superintendent works with a team of operators and professionals to ensure safe and smooth operations, identifying and implementing ideas and processes to allow us to continuously improve, innovate and meet production targets.

More specifically, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying operational people and process improvement opportunities throughout the facility and supporting the development and implementation of new initiatives
  • Working with Orano and its community stakeholders to develop the northern workforce within the operations group, with a particular focus on Athabasca Basin residents
  • Focusing on the development of an engaged, reliable, skilled, and competent workforce capable of adapting to dynamic situations and conditions
  • Working in partnership with the Maintenance Superintendent to effectively manage, coordinate change and support continuous improvement
  • Supporting and overseeing staffing of the Operations groups consisting of mill operators and their supervision, mill trainers, and the Power Engineering group
  • Leading and implementing production strategy and actions identified as part of the department targets and objectives
  • Preparing, delivering, and presenting reports to internal and external stakeholders in line with company requirements and providing input to support other departments
  • Motivating and reinforcing a strong Safety Culture and is a partner in process safety management and operational excellence

More About You 

In order to qualify for this role, you will need a minimum of 10-15 years of experience in a related position, along with demonstrated leadership/supervisory experience. An alternative combination of skills and experience will also be considered. 

As a representative of the mill, you are a strong communicator with the ability to deliver and adapt clear messaging in various forms to their diverse audiences and team members. You have previous experience in analyzing, preparing, and presenting data, with the ability to support and lead change management. Experience with Microsoft Office programs is preferred; familiarity in the use of industrial software programs such as SAP and OSIsoft PI are assets.
